A warning for Mac users: the box’s system requirements are quite minimal: 128 MB of RAM, a CD-ROM drive, and MacOS X 10.4 (Tiger)–requirements that just about every Mac sold since 2004 could meet. But this list is incomplete and, in one respect, at least potentially misleading. The manual inside the box makes clear that the game requires an Intel processor–ruling out my daughter’s three-year-old PowerPC iBook. The ONLY indication that this might be the case on the exterior of the box is the omission of the “Universal” logo that generally appears on Mac software written for both PowerPC and Intel–something that only Mac cognoscenti would notice. As for the potentially misleading requirement: although the exterior says OS X 10.4 is required, the interior manual states that OS X 10.5 (Leopard) is required. I don’t know if this is the case, because the Intel-based iMac that we installed the game onto already had Leopard installed, but some early Intel Macs may still be running Tiger.

As for the game itself, it’s cute; my four-year-old daughter enjoys it, although I don’t know how much staying power it will have (the older Dora’s Animal Adventures game kept her engaged for months). It’s only day two with the game, and she already seems a bit bored.

I was not impressed with this software. I purchased this for use with 2 and 3 year olds, but directions seem difficult and the pictures of lost and found items are not clear and not eye attractive for 2 and 3 year olds. I have the software Dora and the Lost City and it is much more entertaining and interactive than this softwear. I have been very disappointed in the product. The only thing I can say for it is — LOUD.

Dora’s Lost and Found Adventure is an engaging, fun, and interactive game. The box says that the game is for children between the ages of 2 and 5. This game was a little advanced for my 2 year old daughter, but she still thoroughly enjoyed watching Dora on the screen and had fun listening to the backpack song. We had to guide her through every step and do all the mouse manipulation for her, of course, but it still kept her attention for a short time. However, I do think this game is better suited for children ages 3 and up. I am sure in another year or two this will be one of her favorite games.

Age issue aside, the game is fabulous. The graphics are wonderful, using bright colors and paying close attention to detail. The music is entertaining, and the games are fun for kids and adults. It teaches valuable concepts such as colors, shapes, numbers, matching, and more in a fun, interactive manner. I would recommend this to any parent of a preschooler as an entertaining way to help your child learn.

    Dora’s Lost and Found Adventure:

My almost 2 year old may be a bit young for this game I believe it’s designed for 2-5 year olds and I feel that it has a lot of different exercises that should make it last for that time span. That said he loving the counting as that has been a big focus of ours lately and he also loves the colors and shapes exercises – those had him laughing like crazy! There is a lot of potential for learning here; the software includes exercises in reading, math, counting, and reasoning.

I’m giving this game a four star review.

This is an entertaining and educational adventure for preschool boys and girls. If your child is new to the computer, this would be a good program for you to help them learn some basic computer skills – very user friendly and interactive.

There are 5 games that will help set a good foundation for learning. Your child can learn: Problem Solving, Counting and Matching, Colors and Shapes and Computer basics. The mischievous Swiper entertains as he swipes picnic items. And there are some cute coloring pictures that can be printed as your child earns them as rewards.
