I’ll be honest I’m writing this review without having used this version of Norton personally. However, I have gone through the nightmare of uninstalling it for a number of friends, family and a neighbour and the horrors of previous versions myself.
Norton is an incredible resource hog on your computer and will slow down EVERYTHING that you are running, god help you if you actually consider gaming on a PC with Norton running. Again I can’t speak for this version, but prior versions applications have actually harmed data on my computer rather than fixed them.
I would strongly recommend trying a free program like AVG 8.5 and if you like its features you can upgrade to the full version rather than Norton. You won’t regret at least trying AVG, you might very regret purchasing Norton.

This product was shipped June 27 from Fernley NV, that is approx. 750 miles from my location. The product still is not here (July 8, 2009). I was informed it would go via USPS, which would have related to five days. This has turned into a nightmare.
Amazon gave me a runaround, FedEx answer is the post office, even though it took five days to transit from Fernley NV to Denver CO (1000 miles), then it sat in the Denver FedEx sorting facility for five days.
Then it was sent to SLC to a USPS sorting facility on July 7 and yet, today, it is still not here.
At least Amazon did give me notification via email that I can refuse delivery and have it returned and a full credit will be issued to my account.
So, if you try and figure shipping times by how a retailer outlet is from your location, it won’t work using this process. It appears they intentionally allow the package to sit for days before forwarding it on to the next location.
As for the software, I’ll write a review once I receive delivery from another retail outlet that does not screw you on delivery times.

NAV 360 v.3 is even worse than the previous products peddled by these shisters. I purchased and installed the prduct with no trouble. The trouble came after the reboot. NAV would not let me access the internet, outlook, or any other means of communication via the computer. The system ran incredibly slow to the point where I would need to shut down and restart. Finally, after searching various sites for help, because Symantic was no help, I found where I could go to get a tool to remove NAV 360 from my computer. As soon as I got rid of 360, my computer is running fine. I will never go through that again with NAV. What garbage..

The product installed very quickly into our vista and it shows we are protected. What I can’t answer is how well the product works since we have not received any noticed of an attempt on this computer. The one draw back is, for the program to work. You have to give it a new I.A..

Hi: I am a computer repair tech. Before you consider buying this product you should know few things about its history. First off I get a lot of complaints that a persons computer is running slow or simply poorly. In 50% of the cases, when Norton is removed from the computer, it runs better. But that is just the start. Every computer I see that is running Norton has problems.
For those that do not understand how updating a virus checker works, Ill explain it to you. The thing you need to understand is that there are two things that need to be updated. One is the program itself and the other is the definition file. Few virus checkers are any good at just finding a random virus. Since the computer works in sequences of ones and zeros, any virus checker only looks for a pattern of ones and zeros that is generated by a virus. Any virus program will need a Definition file so it understands what it is looking for. Norton is the worst at getting the definition files updated and often has difficulty accessing the Norton main server to get the file updates.
Another issue with any virus protection program is that the more popular the protection program is, the more likely it will be attacked directly by a virus made to do just that. For an example there are viruses out there that will attack Norton’s Definition files and remove things from it so it can install viruses on you computer. This is one of the more popular identity theft methods used, second only to getting the junk (Snail Mail) credit card offers from your trash can. In this case since this product bundles Virus protection, Spyware protection, adware protection, firewall, and others into one neat package, it also provides a single point of failure that hackers prefer to go after.
If you want virus protection I would recommend that you use something like AVG Anti-Virus for free or use Microsoft’s OneCare. The funny part is that if you install AVG’s software on a computer that still has Norton on it, it will alert you that you have a virus called Norton on your hard drive. Yes it is that bad!
And always remember the two rules of computer security software. DO NOT run two programs that do the same thing at the same time. If you have Norton and you want to install AVG or OneCare, remove the old stuff first. By running both you will see a drastic drop in the performance of any computer. READ THE LICENSE AGREEMENT ON ANY FREE SOFTWARE YOU TRY!!! If you do not you might be agreeing to install spyware and/or adware and after you agree to it, most protection programs will then ignore it since you agreed to it with out knowing you did it. They hide it in the user agreement license that most people don’t read. If it is free, it is mostly bait.
