Following is what I sent to In And Out Auctions: “I received my Norton 360 Ver. 2.0 order on 9-29-08 & was very pleased with the prompt delivery. Kudos in that area. However, the Norton box was crushed which indicates that packing was done poorly! The contents were not affected. I WAS EXTREMELY UPSET when I installed the program and found out that only 284 days were left on the program NOT the full 365 days. If In And Out Auctions knew this, you did not give me, the customer, full disclosure. I feel you should replace this Norton 360 Ver. 2.0 CD with a full 365 days on it! I wanted to let you know before I rendered my comments to Amazon.”
Conclusion: In And Out Auctions resolved the problem by offering me a 25% credit which I accepted and considered fair. Case closed. I would do business with In And Out Auctions again based upon their immediate response and resolution to the problem.

WARNING to anyone thinking about buying this product! Please understand that you will not be buying this product only RENTING it. If you do not renew every year the product stops working….COMPLETELY! I’m not just talking about updates, etc. It actually tells you that it has stopped working and it won’t work unless you renew. I have just wasted more than 2 hours with Norton’s online tech support. This is the case with ALL Norton products and I am quoting the tech.

I was first introduced to 360 as a beta tester and enjoyed testing the product. I like the ease of installation. I like Norton products and have used them for years. All the companies I have worked for as a ME secured their PCs and networks. Have never been downed by rogues virus attacks. Will never use the other guys.

Personally, I’ve never been a fan of Symantec’s Norton line of security products. In the past, they’ve been resource-hungry and troublesome, sometimes even causing systems to become unbootable.
Norton 360 version 2.0 is something of an improvement, at least when it comes to system resources. It largely gets the job done I suppose, but makes some glaring oversights. It doesn’t support Firefox or Opera browsers, there are no wireless security tools and the user interface is probably one of the most poorly conceived and implemented pieces of software design that I’ve seen since the early Windows 95 days. Note to Symantec: A new window shouldn’t have to pop-up every single time I click on an option.
Throw in probably the slowest backup options I’ve ever endured, and there’s just no way that I can recommend Norton 360 (version 2.0). It might protect your system from some of the nastiness out there, but it will also make it much, much more of a hassle to do things that should be taken care of in the background. For the most part, you can do a better job of securing your system using open source software that’s readily available.
